The discovery of the 125 GeV scalar resonance, whose properties are in excellent agreement with the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson, completes the search for particles in the SM sector. However, many observational and theoretical questions remain unanswered and require additional physics beyond the SM framework. One of these regards the nature of the dark matter (DM) of the Universe. Astrophysical evidence of DM prompts us to determine the nature of such particles. Weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) are still a popular class of candidates which tries to explain the nature of such DM candidates even though the only thing that we know about these particles is their gravitational interactions with the SM particles. In this talk, I will first review and summarize the current status of WIMP DM searches. I will then discuss my previous works on DM searches following four different approaches, viz. DM model test, DM direct detection, DM indirect detection, and the production of DM particles at the collider experiments. Finally, I will propose possible future works of interest which might hint us to the viability of WIMP DM discovery in the next 20-30 years.
