Metal nanostructures can concentrate electromagnetic energy into nanoscale volumes due to the excitation of surface plasmons, which enables the manipulation of light beyond the diffraction limit. Plasmonic devices are promising for building compact on-chip integrated circuits for potential nanophotonic and quantum information applications. In this talk, I will present our studies on surface plasmons in metal nanowires. By manipulating the multiple plasmon modes in metal nanowires, the extraordinary plasmon propagation behaviors were revealed and utilized to design nanophotonic devices. In the coupled system of a single quantum dot and a silver nanowire, the decay rates of all the exciton recombination channels and the quantum efficiency of single plasmon generation were obtained.
魏红,中国科学院物理研究所副研究员,博士生导师。2004年本科毕业于山东大学物理学院,2009年博士毕业于中科院物理所,并留所工作。主要从事纳米等离激元光子学的研究,发表相关论文40篇,被SCI杂志引用1500余次,在重要国际学术会议上作邀请报告近20次。2012年入选中科院青年创新促进会,荣获中科院物理所科技新人奖,2013年荣获中科院卢嘉锡青年人才奖,2014年获得国家优秀青年科学基金项目支持,入选中科院卓越青年科学家项目和北京市科技新星计划。现任英国物理学会(IOP)出版社的光学期刊Journal of Optics编委会成员。
